Over the past few months, we have been busy renovating our library space. It was a long overhaul as we had lots of work to do: the walls were stripped of black boards and re-painted; the closet doors were removed to make space for a line of bookshelves in the back of the room. We installed new shelvings along two walls, in the center of the room, as well as 3 picture book browsers for the lower grades. The new installations add about 275 linear feet of shelves, preparing the library space to hold more than 5,000 volumes of books! Here are "before" and "after" panoramic views for comparison: We also switched to a new library system and we are adding new, complete records of each and every one of the books in the library every week! Our focus is on adding English titled books right now, and over the summer, we will catalog Chinese titled books.
With new shelves come new territories to be covered and discovered! We purchased many new books this past year, both in support of our curriculum and to promote leisure reading. Our goal is to circulate the curricular books so students may check them out on their own, and to fill the library to the brim with new, extracurricular materials to cover a wide range of fiction and non-fiction subject areas. Thanks for reading, and stayed tune for more updates!
